In 1868, the San Francisco Mint struck a remarkably small run of ten-dollar gold coins, totaling just 13,500 pieces. Bearing the 'S' mint mark, these Liberty Gold Eagles represent a fascinating era of Western American coining, where precious metal was transformed into circulating currency.
