This impressive United States gold coin, minted in 1868 at the San Francisco facility, represents a fascinating era of American coinage. With a gold content of 0.9675 troy ounces and a purity of 0.900, this twenty-dollar piece has survived the decades in an exceptional state of preservation. It has been certified as Almost Uncirculated-55 (AU-55), showing only minor signs of wear from its brief time in commerce. The obverse displays a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty, designed by James Barton Longacre. She wears a crown decorated with pearls, which clearly bears the inscription "Liberty" across its band. Below her portrait, the 1868 date of manufacture is prominently displayed, surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. On the reverse, a detailed heraldic eagle serves as the central focus. The inscriptions "United States of America" and "Twenty Dollars" frame the design along the top and bottom borders.
