Produced at the main Philadelphia Mint, this coin belongs to the celebrated Coronet Head series, also widely recognized as the Liberty Double Eagle. It represents a period of significant gold coinage circulation in America, struck from a composition of 90 percent gold and containing 0.9675 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular specimen is preserved in an exceptional state of conservation, graded as Mint State 65 (MS-65). At this high grade tier, the coin retains its original luster and sharp details, free from the heavy wear typically seen on currency that circulated widely in commerce.
