0.9675 troy oz .900 1871 NGC

In 1871, the San Francisco Mint struck nearly one million twenty-dollar gold coins, each containing over nine-tenths of an ounce of pure gold. This particular specimen survived the decades in an About Uncirculated state, preserving the fine details of its mid-nineteenth-century artistry. The obverse features a classic profile of Liberty, her hair secured with a coronet, surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. On the reverse, a grand eagle clutches an olive branch and arrows beneath a halo of stars and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST". The San Francisco "S" mint mark is located at the bottom of the reverse, just above the denomination.
