Struck in the United States during the pre-1933 era of American coinage, this twenty dollar denomination represents a classic era of gold currency. The coin is composed of 0.900 fine gold, containing 0.9675 troy ounces of precious metal. This particular specimen survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the vivid details of its mid-nineteenth-century design. The obverse side displays a left-facing portrait of Miss Liberty, who wears a diadem bordered with pearls. The word LIBERTY is clearly inscribed across this crown. Thirteen stars encircle her profile, with the year 1873 anchored at the bottom. On the reverse, an eagle with outstretched wings holds a shield upon its chest. Above the bird, thirteen stars form an oval pattern beneath a halo of rays. The country of origin, United States of America, is written along the top border, while the denomination, Twenty Dollars, is inscribed below. This iconic design was created by James B. Longacre and was minted for over half a century, spanning from 1850 to 1907.
