1874 Liberty Seated Dime XF

0.0715 troy oz .900 1874 Extra Fine

The 1874 Liberty Seated dime offers a fascinating look into nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck in 90% silver, this ten-cent piece contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. It was minted at the Philadelphia facility, which did not place a mint mark on its coinage during this era. On the obverse side, the figure of Liberty is depicted sitting upon a rock, looking toward the left. In her hand, she supports a staff topped with a Phrygian cap, while her other hand rests upon a shield. A key distinguishing feature of this 1874 issue is the pair of arrows placed on both sides of the date at the bottom of the design. The surrounding inscription reads "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". The reverse of the coin is simpler but elegant, featuring the words "ONE DIME" nestled inside a decorative wreath. This particular specimen is preserved in Extra Fine condition, showcasing the intricate details of a design that defined an era of United States currency.
