1876-CC Liberty Seated Dime Fine

In 1876, the Carson City Mint in Nevada produced a ten-cent piece that captures a classic era of American coinage. Struck in 90 percent silver, this Liberty Seated dime contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. Its survival in Fine condition means that while it saw active use in the post-Civil War West, its key design elements remain clear and recognizable to the curious observer. The obverse of the coin displays a detailed depiction of Lady Liberty. She is shown seated, holding a staff topped with a Phrygian cap in one hand, while her other hand rests upon a shield. This iconic imagery, designed by Christian Gobrecht, was a staple of nineteenth-century American currency. On the reverse, a simple yet elegant wreath wraps around the central inscription which states the denomination as ONE DIME.
