The year 1876 marked a significant era in American coinage, and this silver dime offers a window into that period. Struck in 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents the Liberty Seated design series, which was a staple of United States pocket change during the nineteenth century. On the obverse side, Lady Liberty is depicted sitting on a rock. In her hands, she supports a staff topped with a Phrygian cap, while her other hand rests upon a shield inscribed with the word LIBERTY. The base of the design displays the year 1876, anchored by the surrounding legend of the United States of America. The reverse of the ten cent piece features a detailed wreath that encircles the face value, written simply as ONE DIME. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, this Philadelphia minted coin, currently preserved in Very Good condition, showcases the elegant artistry that defined the nation's early silver currency.
