1876-S Liberty Seated Dime VG
The 1876-S Liberty Seated dime offers a fascinating glimpse into nineteenth-century United States coinage. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this ten-cent piece is composed of 90% silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. As a sovereign coin, its value and authenticity are backed by the United States government. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the obverse of the coin features a seated figure of Liberty. She is depicted holding a staff topped with a liberty cap, while her other hand rests upon a shield inscribed with the word LIBERTY. The year 1876 is clearly visible beneath the figure, surrounded by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The reverse of this dime displays a detailed wreath that encircles the denomination, which is written simply as ONE DIME. This particular coin survives in Very Good condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation while retaining the core elements of its historic design.
