The late nineteenth century comes alive in this 1877 silver dime, struck at the legendary Carson City Mint. Bearing the 'CC' mint mark, this ten-cent piece represents a fascinating era of American coinage. Crafted from 90 percent silver, the coin contains approximately 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal, surviving today in an appealing Extra Fine circulated state. On the obverse, the design by Christian Gobrecht features Liberty in a seated position. She holds a staff topped with a liberty cap in one hand, while her other hand rests upon a shield. Surrounding this central figure is the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" alongside the date "1877" positioned at the bottom. The reverse of the coin focuses on simplicity and clear denomination.
