Dating back to the late nineteenth century, this 1877 ten-cent piece is a classic example of United States coinage from the pre-1933 era. Struck in 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a long-running design series that circulated widely during a transformative period in American history. The obverse side of the coin features the iconic image of Lady Liberty seated on a rock. In her hands, she holds a staff topped with a liberty cap, while her other hand rests upon a shield.
