This United States ten-cent piece from 1885 represents a classic era of American silver coinage. Struck in 90% fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint, this dime has survived in a circulated, Very Good condition. It contains approximately 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal, carrying the physical wear and character of a coin that actively changed hands in the late nineteenth century. The obverse of the coin displays the famous Liberty Seated motif, created by Christian Gobrecht. Lady Liberty is depicted resting on a rock, holding a staff topped with a Phrygian cap in one hand, while her other hand supports a shield. Surrounding her are the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the year "1885" inscribed below. On the reverse, the coin features a delicate wreath that encircles the denomination "ONE DIME". This simple yet elegant wreath design frames the face value, completing a historic aesthetic that defined American minor silver coinage for decades.
