1887 Liberty Seated Dime XF

Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 10 cent piece represents a classic era of United States coinage. Minted in Philadelphia in 1887, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Surviving in Extra Fine condition, it retains a remarkable level of detail that allows observers to appreciate the artistry of a bygone era. The obverse features Lady Liberty seated upon a rock, holding a staff topped with a Phrygian cap in one hand while her other hand rests on a shield. The date 1887 is clearly visible beneath her feet. On the reverse, the denomination of ONE DIME is encircled by a detailed wreath, surrounded by the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. This particular coin showcases the artistry of Christian Gobrecht, whose work defined the look of American silver coinage for decades.
