Struck in the late nineteenth century at the San Francisco Mint, this 1887 silver dime represents a classic era of United States coinage. Crafted from 90% silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. Having survived in Extra Fine condition, it retains crisp details from its original production, offering a clear window into the craftsmanship of the period. The obverse of the coin presents Christian Gobrecht's celebrated design of Lady Liberty. She is depicted sitting peacefully, holding a staff topped with a Phrygian cap in one hand while resting her other hand upon a shield inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Below this central figure, the year 1887 is clearly visible. On the reverse side, the design features a detailed wreath that encircles the denomination, which is spelled out as ONE DIME. The outer edge is inscribed with the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
