1890 Liberty Head V Nickel Fine

0.0000 troy oz 1890 Fine

The 1890 Liberty Head five-cent piece represents a classic era of United States coinage. Designed by Charles Barber, this nickel features a left-facing portrait of Liberty on the obverse. She wears a coronet inscribed with the word LIBERTY, surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies, with the date 1890 positioned at the bottom. The reverse of the coin is dominated by a large Roman numeral V, which denotes the five-cent face value. This central numeral is encircled by a wreath of agricultural products, including wheat, corn, and cotton. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA wraps around the upper rim, while the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is placed at the bottom, completing a design that is both elegant and utilitarian.
