The 1891-O Liberty Seated dime represents the final chapter of a classic nineteenth-century United States coin family. Minted at the historic New Orleans facility, this ten-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Its survival in a circulated, Good condition offers a tangible connection to the everyday commerce of the late Victorian era. The obverse of the coin features a classic design by Christian Gobrecht, depicting Lady Liberty seated upon a rock. In her left hand, she supports a staff topped with a liberty cap, while her right hand rests upon a shield adorned with the word LIBERTY. Surrounding this central figure is the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, with the year 1891 anchored at the bottom. On the reverse, the coin displays a detailed wreath that encircles the face value, written simply as ONE DIME. The New Orleans origin is marked by the "O" mint mark, distinguishing this issue from those struck in Philadelphia or San Francisco during the final year of the Liberty Seated design's production run.
