Struck in the final decade of the nineteenth century, this ten-dollar gold coin showcases a design tradition that spanned nearly seventy years of American coinage. Minted in 1892, the piece contains 0.4838 troy ounces of gold at a purity of 0.900. It stands as a well-preserved survivor of the pre-1933 era, certified in Mint State 63 condition. The obverse presents the classic Coronet profile of Liberty, her hair bound by a band inscribed with her name. Thirteen stars encircle the portrait, representing the original colonies. This specific Liberty Head motif was first introduced in 1838 and received a subtle portrait modification in 1839, remaining the face of the gold eagle denomination until 1907. On the reverse, a proud heraldic eagle protects a shield on its chest. The bird holds an olive branch and arrows, symbolizing the nation's desire for peace and readiness for defense. Above the eagle, a flowing scroll bears the motto 'IN GOD WE TRUST', an inscription that was integrated into the design in 1866. The reverse is completed by the surrounding legend 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' and the 'TEN D.' denomination.
