1893 $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle MS-63 NGC

0.9675 troy oz .900 1893 MS-63 (NGC)

This twenty-dollar gold coin from 1893 represents a classic era of United States coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin does not bear a mint mark, which was the standard practice for the facility at the time. Out of a total mintage of 344,280 pieces, this particular specimen has survived in remarkable condition, earning a certified grade of Mint State 63 (MS-63). Composed of 90 percent gold, the coin contains 0.9675 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse features the iconic Liberty Head design, with the date 1893 positioned below the portrait and the word LIBERTY inscribed upon her coronet. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle design surrounded by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination TWENTY DOLLARS. The national mottoes, IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, are also integrated into the reverse design, completing a powerful visual statement of late nineteenth-century American coinage.
