The 1903 gold five dollar half eagle represents a classic era of United States coinage. Struck with a composition containing 0.2419 troy ounces of gold, this piece has been preserved in a notable state of preservation, graded Mint State 63 (MS-63). Its survival in this condition allows observers to appreciate the fine details of its nineteenth-century design elements, which were fully guaranteed by the United States Mint. On the obverse, a left-facing portrait of Liberty is depicted wearing a coronet hair band inscribed with her name. Thirteen stars encircle the portrait, representing the original colonies, with the date 1903 positioned at the bottom.
