The 1903-S Liberty Gold Half Eagle represents a classic era of American coinage, originating from the San Francisco Mint during a period when gold coins circulated as everyday currency. It has survived the decades in Almost Uncirculated condition, showing only minor signs of wear from its brief time in commerce. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the coin features a left-facing portrait of Liberty on the obverse. Her hair is secured by a band inscribed with the word LIBERTY, and she is encircled by thirteen stars representing the original colonies, with the 1903 date positioned below. This specific design tradition spanned a long era from 1838 to 1907. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle bearing a shield upon its chest. The bird holds an olive branch and arrows in its talons, symbolizing both peace and defense.
