1906 Liberty Head V Nickel AU

0.0000 troy oz 1906 Almost Unc

The 1906 Liberty Head five-cent piece represents a classic era of American coinage. Struck in Philadelphia, this coin features a refined obverse profile of Liberty. Her hair is styled elegantly, secured by a coronet or crown that clearly displays the word LIBERTY. Thirteen stars encircle her portrait, representing the original colonies, with the year 1906 anchored at the bottom. On the reverse, the coin features its namesake design element: a large Roman numeral V, which denotes its five-cent value. This central digit is framed by a decorative wreath of wheat, cotton, and corn. The traditional national motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, is positioned at the top, while the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA wraps around the upper rim, and the word CENTS rests at the very bottom. This particular specimen survives in About Uncirculated condition, preserving the crisp details of Charles Barber's iconic late nineteenth-century design.
