1906 Liberty Head V Nickel VF

The five-cent piece minted by the United States government in 1906 represents a classic era of American coinage. Often referred to as the Liberty V nickel, this coin is struck in a base metal alloy, containing no precious metal. This particular specimen is preserved in Very Fine condition, showing pleasing detail from its time in circulation during the early twentieth century. On the obverse, the design by Charles Barber features the profile of Liberty facing left, adorned with a coronet or crown that proudly displays the word LIBERTY. Below her portrait, the date 1906 is clearly visible, anchoring the coin to its year of production at the Philadelphia Mint. The reverse of the coin is dominated by a large Roman numeral V, representing its five-cent face value. This central numeral is encircled by a wreath, which is itself surrounded by the national motto E PLURIBUS UNUM at the bottom and the issuing authority, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, arching across the top.
