In 1909, the United States introduced a new design for its one cent coin, featuring a portrait of Abraham Lincoln on the obverse. This particular issue is highly recognized for a specific detail located at the very bottom of the reverse side: the prominent initials V.D.B. These letters represent the designer of the coin, Victor David Brenner. The obverse displays a detailed bust of President Lincoln, while the reverse features two stylized ears of wheat framing the denomination and the country of origin. Struck in a metal composition of 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent consisting of tin and zinc, this Brilliant Uncirculated coin retains its original brown copper luster. It represents the inaugural year of one of the longest-running coin designs in American history, struck at the Philadelphia Mint.
