1909 VDB Lincoln Cent VF

In 1909, the United States introduced a historic redesign of the one cent coin, marking a significant departure in American coinage. The obverse of this copper coin features a detailed profile bust of Abraham Lincoln, looking toward the right. Above his likeness, the familiar motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, while "LIBERTY" stands to his left and the date "1909" is positioned to his right. The reverse of the coin is framed by two stylized wheat ears curving along the borders. At the center, the denomination "ONE CENT" and the country name "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" are prominently displayed. Near the top rim, the Latin phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is visible. This specific variety is highly notable for bearing the designer's initials, "V.D.B.", located at the very bottom of the reverse design. This particular specimen is preserved in Very Fine condition, showing clear details of Victor David Brenner's original artistry. Out of a total mintage of 27,995,000, these initialed cents from the Philadelphia Mint remain some of the most celebrated and studied pieces in the entire Lincoln series.
