In 1910, the United States Mint was in the early stages of producing what would become one of the most recognized pieces of pocket change in human history. This copper cent, preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, represents the second year of the iconic Lincoln series. It offers a clear window into the artistic transition of American coinage at the beginning of the twentieth century. The obverse of the coin presents the classic profile bust of Abraham Lincoln, facing right. Above his likeness, the words "IN GOD WE TRUST" are inscribed, while "LIBERTY" stands to his left and the date "1910" is positioned to his right. This portrait, crafted by Victor David Brenner, marked a significant departure from the Liberty head designs that had previously dominated American currency. Turning the coin over reveals the original reverse design that gave this era of pennies its famous nickname. Two stylized ears of wheat frame the central inscriptions, which state the denomination "ONE CENT" and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." This simple yet elegant combination of agriculture and typography defines the early era of the Lincoln cent, captured here in its original, uncirculated state.
