1910 Lincoln Cent MS-65 PCGS (Red)

In 1910, the United States Mint in Philadelphia struck a copper penny that would help solidify a major transition in the nation's coinage. This particular specimen, preserved in an exceptional Mint State 65 condition with its original red luster intact, represents the second year of a design that forever changed American pocket change. Prior to this series, regular-issue United States coins did not depict real, historical individuals. This coin features the iconic profile of Abraham Lincoln, making the series the very first circulating US coinage to honor an actual person. Designed by Victor David Brenner, the obverse displays the detailed portrait of the 16th president facing right, accompanied by the word LIBERTY and the date 1910. Above his likeness, the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed. The reverse design is elegantly simple, featuring two stalks of wheat framing the denomination ONE CENT and the country of origin, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. At the top rim, the traditional Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM completes the design, celebrating unity in a young but growing nation.
