Introduced near the start of the twentieth century, the 1910 Lincoln Cent represents an early chapter in one of the most enduring coin series in United States history. Struck in copper at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin carries a design that completely transformed the nation's minor coinage, moving away from the Indian Head motif to honor a historic president. The obverse displays a detailed profile bust of Abraham Lincoln facing right. Positioned above his portrait is the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, while the word LIBERTY stands to his left, and the date 1910 is struck on the right. This portrait was created by Victor David Brenner, whose artistry established a new standard for American circulating currency. On the reverse, the coin features a simple yet elegant frame of two stylized wheat ears curving along the left and right borders. This framing surrounds the central inscriptions denoting the denomination, ONE CENT, and the issuing nation, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. At the top rim, the traditional Latin motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, completes the design. This specific piece has survived in Extra Fine condition, preserving the crisp lines of the wheat stalks and the fine details of Lincoln's portrait for modern observers to appreciate.
