1910-S Lincoln Cent BU (Brown)

In 1910, the San Francisco Mint produced a modest run of just over six million Lincoln cents, making this early issue a compelling subject for study. This particular specimen survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, retaining its original brown copper surfaces from more than a century ago. The obverse features the familiar profile of Abraham Lincoln, designed by Victor David Brenner. Above his portrait, the classic motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is clearly legible, balanced by the word "LIBERTY" to the left and the date "1910" with the "S" mint mark positioned below. On the reverse, the design showcases two stylized wheat ears framing the denomination "ONE CENT" and the country name "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." This simple yet elegant pairing of Lincoln's likeness and the wheat ears defined the face of the American penny for decades, and examining a well-preserved early example offers a direct look at the beginning of this classic series.
