The 1912 Liberty Head nickel represents the final official year of regular production for one of America's most recognizable five-cent designs. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this copper-nickel coin showcases the classic artistry of Charles Barber. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty, her hair adorned with a coronet or crown inscribed with the word LIBERTY, surrounded by thirteen stars to represent the original colonies. On the reverse, the coin displays a large Roman numeral V, representing its five-cent denomination. This central element is encircled by a wreath of agricultural symbols, including wheat, cotton, and corn. Above the wreath, the national motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is clearly visible, while the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the word CENTS frame the lower portion of the design. This particular specimen survives in an impressive Almost Uncirculated condition, retaining much of its original detail and design sharpness.
