The 1912 Liberty Head nickel represents the final official year of regular production for one of America's most recognizable early twentieth-century five-cent pieces. Struck in Philadelphia, this coin displays a distinct artistic transition in American coinage, combining classical imagery with bold, clear typography. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty faces left, adorned with a coronet or crown that proudly displays her name. Thirteen stars encircle the portrait, representing the original colonies, with the date 1912 positioned at the bottom. The design is the work of Charles Barber, whose influential engraving style defined an era of United States currency. The reverse of the coin is dominated by a large Roman numeral V, representing the five-cent denomination. This central symbol is framed by a decorative wreath of wheat, cotton, and corn.
