Introduced in the early twentieth century, the Lincoln Cent represents a significant shift in American coinage design. The 1912 issue, struck in copper at the Philadelphia Mint, showcases the enduring portrait of Abraham Lincoln on its obverse. This depiction of the sixteenth president of the United States was created by Victor David Brenner, whose artistry captured a sense of dignity and strength. The obverse also bears the familiar national mottoes and the date of production. The reverse of the coin features a minimalist yet elegant design consisting of two stalks of wheat framing the denomination. This iconic imagery earned the early issues of the series the popular nickname of wheat cents. The reverse inscriptions clearly display the denomination of one cent alongside the country of origin and the traditional Latin motto meaning out of many, one. Having survived more than a century, this particular coin remains in a Very Fine state of preservation, allowing observers to appreciate the fine details of Brenner's historic work.
