Struck in copper at the San Francisco Mint, this 1913 Lincoln cent represents an early era of one of the most enduring coin designs in United States history. This particular piece is preserved in Fine condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that circulated through the hands of early twentieth-century Americans while retaining its essential design details. The obverse features the famous portrait of President Abraham Lincoln facing right, a depiction created by sculptor Victor David Brenner. Above the bust, the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, flanked by the word "LIBERTY" and the 1913 date, which sits just above the "S" mint mark indicating its origin in San Francisco. On the reverse, the coin displays two stylized wheat ears framing the denomination "ONE CENT" and the country of origin, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA".
