The 1914 Lincoln cent struck at the Denver Mint stands as one of the most famous issues in the entire wheat penny series. With a total mintage of just 1,193,000 pieces, this early copper coin is a remarkable survivor from the era before the First World War. This particular specimen is preserved in Very Good condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation while retaining its essential design elements. Created by sculptor Victor David Brenner, the obverse of the coin presents a strong profile portrait of Abraham Lincoln, facing right. The inscriptions on this side include the word LIBERTY to the left of the bust, the date 1914 with the D mint mark below it on the right, and the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST arching along the top rim. The reverse design features two stylized stalks of wheat framing the central inscriptions. The denomination ONE CENT is boldly displayed at the center, positioned directly above UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM curves gracefully along the upper border, completing a design that defined American minor coinage for half a century.
