1914-D Lincoln Cent XF
The 1914 Lincoln cent represents an enduring era in American coinage. Struck in Denver, this copper penny carries a design that has achieved the distinction of being the longest-running type still in active circulation today. Originally issued to mark one hundred years since the birth of Abraham Lincoln, the coin serves as a lasting tribute to the nation's sixteenth president. The obverse of this cent displays a detailed portrait of Abraham Lincoln, facing right, captured in an Extra Fine state of preservation. This side also bears the traditional national mottoes and the date of issue. Victor David Brenner created this historic depiction, which revolutionized the appearance of American minor coinage at the turn of the twentieth century. On the reverse, the design features two stylized stalks of wheat framing the central denominations. The inscriptions on this side include the Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM arching over the top, with the central denomination ONE CENT and the country of origin, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, clearly legible. The simplicity of the wheat ears design offers a striking contrast to the detailed presidential portrait on the front.
