The 1915 Lincoln cent struck at the Denver Mint offers a fascinating look at early twentieth-century American coinage. Crafted from copper, this specific piece has survived in an impressive Extra Fine state of preservation, allowing observers to appreciate the finer points of its design that often wore away quickly in daily commerce. On the obverse, the profile of Abraham Lincoln faces right, accompanied by the familiar inscriptions of national identity and liberty. The words IN GOD WE TRUST arch over the president's bust, while LIBERTY stands clearly to the left. The date 1915 and the small D mint mark representing the Denver facility are positioned on the right side. The reverse side presents the classic imagery that gave these early cents their famous nickname. Two stylized stalks of wheat frame the central denomination, ONE CENT, and the country name, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. At the very top rim, the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM completes this iconic American design, which was originally created by Victor Brenner.
