In 1916, the San Francisco Mint produced a copper one-cent piece that remains a classic representative of early twentieth-century American coinage. This particular coin, graded in Extra Fine condition, showcases the enduring artistry of Victor David Brenner, whose work redefined the face of the nation's lowest-denomination currency. The obverse of the coin features the familiar, dignified profile of Abraham Lincoln facing right. Above his portrait, the classic motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, paired with the word "LIBERTY" to the left and the date 1916 positioned to the right. Just below the date, the small "S" mint mark indicates its origin from the San Francisco facility. On the reverse, the design features two stylized wheat ears framing the central inscriptions.
