1917 Lincoln Cent BU (Red/Brown)

0.0000 troy oz 1917 Brilliant Unc

Dating back to 1917, this United States one-cent piece represents an early era of a classic American design. Struck in a metal composition of 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent consisting of tin and zinc, this coin has survived in brilliant uncirculated condition. It displays a distinct red-brown coloration that highlights the preservation of its original surfaces. The obverse features the familiar profile bust of Abraham Lincoln, designed by Victor David Brenner. Clearly legible inscriptions surround the portrait, including the words LIBERTY, the date 1917, and the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST above the bust. On the reverse, the design showcases two stylized wheat ears framing the denomination and country of origin. The inscriptions ONE CENT and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA are boldly struck within the wreath-like wheat stalks. This Philadelphia Mint issue, which carries no mint mark, offers a vivid look at early twentieth-century American coinage artistry.
