1917 Lincoln Cent BU

0.0000 troy oz 1917 Brilliant Unc

In 1917, the United States Mint produced a copper cent that has survived more than a century in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. This coin offers a clear window into early twentieth-century American coinage, retaining the vibrant luster and sharp details that are often lost to decades of circulation. The obverse of this one-cent piece features a dignified, right-facing bust of Abraham Lincoln, a design created by the artist Victor David Brenner. Positioned above the portrait is the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST", while the word "LIBERTY" stands to the left of the president, and the date "1917" is struck on the right. On the reverse, the coin displays a simple yet elegant design featuring two stylized ears of wheat framing the center. This side of the coin clearly states the denomination, "ONE CENT", and identifies the issuing nation as the "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". Strung without a mint mark, this specimen was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, representing a classic era of United States copper coinage.
