Numismatic
1917-S Lincoln Cent XF
This copper one cent piece from 1917 represents an early chapter in the long-running Lincoln Cent series. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, the coin carries the 'S' mint mark on its obverse, positioned just below the date. The metal composition is entirely copper, giving the coin its classic, warm tone and substantial feel in the hand. The obverse features the familiar profile of Abraham Lincoln, accompanied by the legendary inscriptions of American coinage. Above the portrait, the phrase 'IN GOD WE TRUST' is arched along the rim, while the word 'LIBERTY' stands clearly to the left of the bust. On the reverse, the design is framed by the denomination 'ONE CENT' and the country of origin, 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA'. This specimen has survived more than a century of circulation, retaining its details in an Extra Fine state of preservation.
