The 1918 Lincoln cent, struck at the Denver Mint, represents an early chapter in one of America's most enduring coin designs. Crafted in copper, this piece carries a rich brown warmth that highlights the fine details of its classic imagery. The coin is preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, allowing observers to appreciate the artistry of its surfaces just as they appeared near the end of the First World War. On the obverse, a detailed profile bust of Abraham Lincoln faces right. This side features the prominent inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" arching above the president, with "LIBERTY" positioned to his left and the date "1918" paired with the "D" mint mark on the right. The design is the work of Victor David Brenner, whose artistry redefined the face of American minor coinage. The reverse of the coin presents a minimalist yet powerful layout. Two stylized stalks of wheat frame the central denomination "ONE CENT" and the issuing country "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". At the very top, the traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is inscribed, completing a design that served as a daily staple of American commerce during the early twentieth century.
