1918-D Lincoln Cent XF

0.0000 troy oz 1918

Struck at the Denver Mint during a pivotal year in global history, this 1918 copper one-cent piece represents an early chapter in the longest-running circulating coin series in United States history. The coin features the classic design by Victor David Brenner, which completely transformed the aesthetic of American minor coinage when it was first introduced. The obverse side presents a dignified profile bust of Abraham Lincoln, facing right. Above his portrait, the timeless national motto reads "IN GOD WE TRUST", while the word "LIBERTY" stands to his left, and the date 1918 is positioned to his right. Just below the date, the "D" mint mark indicates its origin from the Denver facility. On the reverse, the coin displays its denomination, "ONE CENT", and the country of origin, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". This central text is framed by two stylized ears of wheat curving along the left and right borders, a motif that gave this era of cents their famous "wheat penny" nickname.
