1918 Lincoln Cent XF

0.0000 troy oz 1918 Extra Fine

This copper penny from 1918 represents an early era of one of the most enduring coin designs in United States history. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, the coin has survived in Extra Fine condition, displaying a level of detail that allows observers to appreciate the artistry of its early twentieth-century engraving. The obverse features the familiar profile bust of Abraham Lincoln, facing right. Above his portrait, the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, while the word "LIBERTY" stands to the left and the date 1918 is positioned to the right. This side of the coin was designed by Victor David Brenner. On the reverse, the coin displays its denomination of "ONE CENT" above "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". This central text is framed by two stylized stalks of wheat, which curve along the left and right borders of the coin. This classic "wheat cent" design remained a staple of American pocket change for decades, making this well-preserved specimen a fascinating window into the past.
