1920 Lincoln Cent BU (Red/Brown)

0.0000 troy oz 1920 Brilliant Unc

Struck in 1920 at the Philadelphia Mint, this copper cent represents an early era of one of America's most enduring coin designs. The piece is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, showing the distinctive red and brown tones that copper naturally develops over more than a century. On the obverse, the profile of Abraham Lincoln faces right, accompanied by the inscriptions of national identity and liberty. Above his bust, the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is paired with the word "LIBERTY" to the left and the date "1920" to the right. This portrait was created by Victor David Brenner, marking a historic shift in American coinage by featuring a real historical figure. The reverse of the coin is framed by two stylized wheat ears, which curve around the central inscriptions. The denomination "ONE CENT" and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" are prominently displayed, topped by the traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". This simple yet elegant design helped define the look of the American penny for fifty years.
