1920 Lincoln Cent BU (Red)

0.0000 troy oz 1920 Brilliant Unc

This 1920 Lincoln cent survives in a brilliant uncirculated state, retaining the vibrant red coloration characteristic of freshly minted copper. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin represents an early era of one of the longest-running series in United States coinage. The composition is a classic alloy consisting of 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent made of tin and zinc. The obverse features a detailed portrait of Abraham Lincoln facing right, a design created by Victor David Brenner. Close inspection of the lower edge of Lincoln's bust reveals the designer's tiny initials. Above the portrait, the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, flanked by "LIBERTY" on the left and the date "1920" on the right. The reverse design is characterized by two stylized wheat ears framing the central inscriptions. It displays the denomination "ONE CENT" and the country of origin "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" in bold lettering. At the top rim, the traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" completes the design, symbolizing national unity.
