1925 Lexington-Concord Sesquicentennial Half BU (Cleaned)
Struck in 1925 to mark the 150th anniversary of the historic opening conflicts of the American Revolutionary War, this United States half dollar is a beautiful example of commemorative silver coinage. Containing 0.3617 troy ounces of 90 percent fine silver, the coin serves as a physical monument to the events of 1775. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, showing off its original design details despite evidence of past cleaning. The obverse of the coin features the iconic Concord Minuteman, a symbol of the rapid mobilization of local militia during the outbreak of the war. Surrounding the figure are the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and CONCORD MINUTE-MAN, alongside the denomination of HALF DOLLAR. This side pays tribute to the citizen soldiers who stood ready to defend their communities at a moment's notice. On the reverse, the design showcases the Old Belfry located in Lexington. This historic structure housed the bell that was rung to sound the alarm, summoning the Minutemen to assemble for battle. The reverse is inscribed with OLD BELFRY, LEXINGTON and the dual dates 1775 to 1925, forever linking the moment of the alarm to its sesquicentennial celebration.
