In 1926, the Denver Mint struck this copper one-cent piece, marking a continuation of a revolutionary series in American numismatics. The Lincoln Cent holds a special place in monetary history as the very first regularly circulating coin in the United States to depict an actual historical individual. This departure from traditional allegorical figures of Liberty brought a new level of portraiture to the pockets of everyday citizens. The obverse of the coin displays the famous profile of Abraham Lincoln, designed by Victor David Brenner. Accompanying the portrait are the legible inscriptions of liberty and the national motto expressing trust in God, alongside the 1926 date. On the reverse, the design features two stylized stalks of wheat framing the denomination. The inscriptions clearly display the words stating the value of one cent and the name of the issuing nation, the United States of America. This particular specimen survives in Very Fine condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that circulated during the interwar era.
