The 1928 Lincoln Cent, struck at the Denver Mint, represents a classic era of American copper coinage. This specimen survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the crisp details of a design that has become a staple of American pocket change. The obverse features the famous profile bust of Abraham Lincoln, looking toward the right. Above his portrait, the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, while the word "LIBERTY" stands behind him, and the date 1928, along with the "D" mint mark, sits clearly below. On the reverse, the coin displays the traditional "Wheat Penny" motif. Two stylized stalks of wheat frame the central inscriptions, which state the denomination "ONE CENT" and the country of origin, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." At the very top curve of the reverse, the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is proudly displayed. This iconic combination of Lincoln's portrait and the wheat ears was created by the artist Victor David Brenner, making this Denver-minted cent a fascinating study in early twentieth-century coin design.
