In 1929, the San Francisco Mint struck over 50 million Lincoln cents, including this copper specimen preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition. This classic piece of American pocket change captures a pivotal moment in the nation's coinage history, representing the enduring design that circulated widely during the early twentieth century. The obverse features the familiar profile bust of Abraham Lincoln, facing right. Above his portrait, the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed, while the word LIBERTY stands to the left. The date 1929 and the 'S' mint mark of the San Francisco facility are positioned to the right. On the reverse, the design showcases two stylized wheat ears framing the denomination ONE CENT and the country of origin, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is featured at the top border. Created by Victor David Brenner, this reverse design also carries the designer's initials, marking a distinct era of the Lincoln cent series.
