Struck to commemorate the centennial of Texas independence, this silver half dollar is a remarkable example of mid-century American commemorative coinage. Minted between 1934 and 1938, each coin contains 0.3617 troy ounces of 90 percent fine silver and is preserved in brilliant uncirculated condition, showcasing the original luster of the design. The obverse of the coin presents a bold composition featuring a large five-pointed star positioned directly behind a perched eagle. This striking combination of symbols creates a powerful visual statement on the coin's front face. On the reverse, the artistry becomes even more complex. A kneeling figure of winged Victory dominates the center, flanked by two small portrait medallions depicting Texas pioneers Stephen Austin and General Sam Houston.
