This silver fifty-cent piece, struck at the Denver Mint in 1935, is a remarkable example of commemorative United States coinage. Containing 0.3617 troy ounces of silver, the coin is composed of 90 percent precious metal and is preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition. The obverse features a bold design showcasing a large, five-pointed star positioned behind a perched eagle. Inscriptions on this side include the word LIBERTY, the date 1935, and the denomination HALF DOLLAR. The reverse presents a complex and symbolic scene. A kneeling, winged figure representing Victory is flanked by two small portrait medallions. These medallions depict two pivotal figures in Texas history, General Sam Houston and Stephen Austin. The design also incorporates historic references, including the phrase REMEMBER THE ALAMO alongside the years 1836 to 1936, which mark the centennial era of Texas independence.
